General principles of dietary nutrition:

  • eliminate foods that cause an allergic reaction;
  • choose a menu with high nutritional value, food containing ascorbic acid, bioflavonoids and niacinamide is especially useful;
  • consume up to 300 g per day of fruits and vegetables;
  • give preference to such methods of heat treatment – steaming, cooking, stewing and baking;
  • reduce salt intake by 2 times.

In the acute stage

During the period of exacerbation, the patient should adhere to diet No. 10a. Its principles:

  • reduction in caloric content of food to 1700-1800 kcal, carbohydrates – up to 300 g and sugar – up to 30 g;
  • the daily norm of proteins is up to 80 g, of which only 60% are of animal origin;
  • fat reduction up to 70 g per day, exclusion from the diet of meat and fish broths;
  • reduction in the amount of fluid consumed to 1 liter;
  • an increase in cereals in the diet (except for oat, corn, and wheat).

It is necessary to increase the number of meals up to 5-6 times a day.

Every 7-10 days you need to arrange fasting days. Foods high in potassium and calcium should predominate in the diet. It can be a fruit and vegetable or cheese-milk diet.

During remission

It is necessary to observe table No. 10 with a high protein content (daily dose of 80-90 g). Adequate intake of calcium, phosphorus, and vitamin D is important. These nutrients are found in seafood and dairy products.

It is useful to arrange vegetarian days, the main emphasis is on fruits and vegetables.

Allowed Products

It is important for patients with rheumatoid arthritis to get enough vitamins and minerals to fight the disease. Hormone treatment leads to leaching of calcium from the body, so it is important to include fresh herbs, soy and skim milk products in the diet.

A milk and vegetable diet is useful, but sometimes exacerbations of arthritis are associated with the use of dairy products and fiber. The table is selected individually for the patient.

  • spicy, fatty and fried foods;
  • canned food;
  • smoked meats;
  • chocolate;
  • strong tea and coffee;
  • alcoholic drinks.

With rheumatoid arthritis, it is important to monitor weight, you can not afford to gain extra pounds, so you need to abandon digestible carbohydrates, in particular sugar, animal fats, and flour products.

What can not be eaten with rheumatoid arthritis so that the symptoms of the disease do not worsen? Prohibited foods that most often cause exacerbations:

  • pork and fatty meat;
  • citrus;
  • nightshade;
  • wheat, corn and oat groats, rye;
  • nuts
  • cocoa.

Solanaceae, such as eggplant, potatoes and tomatoes, are a source of solanine. This substance is not removed from the body of a patient with rheumatoid arthritis, it contributes to joint inflammation.

Sorrel, spinach, and rhubarb are prohibited. These products remove calcium from the body.

The menu depends on which table is selected. There are several options for diet food. The most common:
